We had a great time at the Bellevue Arts Museum Artsfair.  We were really pleased with how many people came up to us to offer encouragment and compliment us on our new designs.  We were also really happy to have two great assistants in our booth, Phoebe and Avi.      This is a photo of our booth and Phoebe.

New Wood Collection

Unite With Art

Once again Lemon Park is participating in Unite With Art -  A contemporary art auction and gala that benefits UNICEF’s Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign.  This campaign offers support and treatment to children under 15 living with HIV.  Unite with Art aims to donate 100% of the proceeds.  Enjoy great food, cocktails and live entertainment June 3, 2010 while offering your support to young children.  Further details and tickets are available on line at Unite with Art.

WOOD COLLECTION 

Deep, dark, sculptural Arung wood is the latest feature of Lemon Park’s collection for 2010. 

The inspiration for our new collection comes from outside my front door, the Vancouver Dockyards. I used to go down to an old ship building site and take pictures and gather rusty, sculpturally interesting and historically curious metal and wood off-cuts to use in my mixed media works. The scale of the pieces, even at their salt-rusted, long- decayed stage was always alluring: short, rusted lengths of huge link chains, enormous rusty bolts, screws, ties, and large multi-dented, like huge multi-faceted, metal ball shapes that once served as buoys. Lengths of now prized antique old growth wood beams and posts lay about, having collapsed under neglect and darkened by wet weather and layers of decaying leaves. 

I thought of those days of discovery and the wonder and strength of scale, shape and lines of familiar items, on familiar ground, when I designed this wood collection.

Inspired by the natural beauty of our city, we have created two limited edition necklaces to celebrate this unique moment in Vancouver’s history.   These souvenirs will be available exclusively at the Peter Kiss Gallery on Granville Island or here on line February 11.

Antler necklace

Each necklace showcases the natural beauty of Vancouver and pays homage to Northern wildlife that symbolizes the free spirit of Canada.  Choose from a miniature polar bear, hand-carved from deer antler, or the widely familiar symbol of local wildlife, a rack of deer antlers made from sterling silver.  Each pendant is adorned with a red coral bead in honour of the Canadian flag as well as faceted quartz to evoke the reflectiveness of ocean vistas, glass towers, and snowy mountain tops that bring a shimmering grace to Vancouver’s skyline.  The simple and elegant creations are displayed on oxidized, broad link silver chains.

To commemorate the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, we will be donating 10% of sales from these limited edition necklaces to the Atira Women’s Resource Society, a local organization devoted to ending violence against women through programs like Bridge Housing for Women, the Bridge Women’s Emergency Shelter, the Maxine Wright Community Healthcare Center and the Aboriginal Women’s Outreach Project Program. 

We see this as a chance to give back to the city that we love and to uplift women in this amazing city we call home.

Unite for Art 2009

Lemon Park is taking part in the Unite for Art Auction and Gala June 3, 2009 to benefit UNICEF Canada’s Unite for Children and Unite Against AIDS Campaign.  There will be a silent auction and live auction, with cocktails and food from some of Vancouver’s best restaurants.   It will be a fun evening of art and design and an opportunity to support an effective campaign.  Tickets and further details about this event are available here.  

Contest Winner

On occassion I’ve wondered who the winner might be of a contest I’ve entered - or if anybody won.  So we thought we’d let you know that winner of our wedding draw on April 30, for a one of a kind Rocks necklace and earrings for three of her bridesmaids, was Melissa Morgan.  Melissa is from Calgary and we met with her when we were visiting earlier this month for the Portobello Fashion and Art Market.      

Mellisa had a consultation with Tania to discuss her preferences, the style of her wedding dress and  the colours of her bridesmaids’ dresses.  After the consultation Tania created a Rocks necklace made specially for her and Melissa chose earrings from a few styles of earrings Tania thought would work well with her bridesmaids dresses.  

We had a great time with this contest.  Melissa looks great in her new necklace and is excited to wear her Lemon Park piece for her wedding.

Fashion Week

  Tania at Fashion Week opening gala at Leone.

We were selected to participate in Spring 2009 Fashion Week Vancouver, March 24 – 29th.  Fashion Week Vancouver has been an attraction for Canadian and international designers for 15 seasons.  It is a 5 day event that showcases upcoming designers and attracts those involved in the fashion industry.   On March 25, 2009, Leone hosted the opening gala for media and invited guests to see the latest designs from clothing and jewellery designers.  At this event we presented our Fall 09 Rocks collection and below are some model photos from the opening gala at Leone.   (Please click on photos for larger view).  

This photo (above) shows how two ‘Rocks’ (TR033) necklaces look when they are stacked – bold, a great statement piece.  Dallas is also wearing two ’Rocks’ bracelets (TRB033). 

Alexandra (L) is wearing The Rocks necklace TR025, Dallas (R) is wearing the ‘Ice Gold’ Rocks necklace (TR005). 

Our Rocks necklaces and bracelets can be worn as a statement piece with a simple dress for a black tie event.  However, we wear and suggest our Rocks necklaces be worn anywhere; out for dinner, to a BBQ, or out with friends.  Wear your necklace with a blouse or T with jeans and some boots or sandles.  You’ll definitely get comments.
